Caller ID Issues
- Make sure you subscribe to Caller ID through your local telephone company.
- Verify there is a working phone line connected to the receiver.
- Were you watching TV when a call came in?
- The receivers do not store Caller ID messages or information. Unlike some (non-satellite) Caller ID boxes on the market, if you were not watching TV when the call came through, you would not have any Caller ID information.
- Did you have an Event Timer set and active (recording) when the call came in?
- Caller ID messaging will not show on screen during an Event Timer set to record. This is to prevent the Caller ID information from being recorded to your tape.
- Is the Caller ID info displayed when watching satellite channels but not local channels?
- Caller ID messaging will only show when watching satellite programming.
- The model 5000 has two RCA (yellow, red, and white) outputs. The one labeled "VCR" will not pass Caller ID information as it may be used for recording. If you are using this output and would like the Caller ID displayed onscreen, switch this to the other output labeled "TV".
